O CONHECIMENTO MAIS CONFIDENCIAL
THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL KNOWLEDGE
Verso 1
śrī-bhagavān uvāca
idaṁ tu te guhya-tamaṁ
pravakṣyāmy anasūyave
jñānaṁ vijñāna-sahitaṁ
yaj jñātvā mokṣyase
’śubhāt
Tradução
O
Supremo Senhor disse: Meu querido Arjuna, porque você não Me inveja, Eu vou te
comunicar esta ciência mais confidencial, conhecendo a qual você se aliviará
das misérias da existência material.
The Supreme Lord said: My dear
Arjuna, because you are never envious of Me, I shall impart to you this most
secret wisdom, knowing which you shall be relieved of the miseries of material
existence.
Verso 2
rāja-vidyā rāja-guhyaṁ
pavitram idam uttamam
pratyakṣāvagamaṁ dharmyaṁ
su-sukhaṁ kartum avyayam
Tradução
Este
conhecimento é o rei da educação, o mais secreto de todos segredos. É o
conhecimento mais puro, e porque dá a percepção direta do eu através da realização,
é a perfeição da religião. Ele é perpétuo
e é executado alegremente.
This knowledge is the king of
education, the most secret of all secrets. It is the purest knowledge, and
because it gives direct perception of the self by realization, it is the
perfection of religion. It is everlasting, and it is joyfully performed.
Verso 3
aśraddadhānāḥ puruṣā
dharmasyāsya paran-tapa
aprāpya māṁ nivartante
mṛtyu-saṁsāra-vartmani
Tradução
Aqueles
que não têm fé no caminho do serviço devocional não podem Me alcançar, ó
conquistador dos inimigos, mas retornam ao nascimento e à morte neste mundo
material.
Those who are not faithful on the
path of devotional service cannot attain Me, O conqueror of foes, but return to
birth and death in this material world.
Verso 4
mayā tatam idaṁ sarvaṁ
jagad avyakta-mūrtinā
mat-sthāni
sarva-bhūtāni
na cāhaṁ teṣv avasthitaḥ

Este
universo inteiro é penetrado por Mim, em Minha forma não manifesta. Todos os
seres estão em Mim, mas Eu não estou neles.
By Me, in My unmanifested form,
this entire universe is pervaded. All beings are in Me, but I am not in them.
Verso 5
na ca mat-sthāni bhūtāni
paśya me yogam aiśvaram
bhūta-bhṛn na ca bhūta-stho
mamātmā bhūta-bhāvanaḥ

mesmo assim, tudo que é criado não repousa em Mim. Veja Minha opulência
mística! Apesar de Eu ser o mantenedor de todas as entidades vivas, e apesar de
Eu estar em toda parte, ainda assim, Meu Eu é a própria fonte da criação.
And yet everything that is created
does not rest in Me. Behold My mystic opulence! Although I am the maintainer of
all living entities, and although I am everywhere, still My Self is the very
source of creation.
Verso 6
yathākāśa-sthito nityaṁ
vāyuḥ sarvatra-go mahān
tathā sarvāṇi bhūtāni
mat-sthānīty upadhāraya

Do
mesmo modo como o vento poderoso, que sopra em toda parte, sempre repousa no
espaço etéreo, saiba que da mesma maneira todos os seres repousam em Mim.
As the mighty wind, blowing
everywhere, always rests in ethereal space know that in the same manner all
beings rest in Me.
Verso 7
sarva-bhūtāni kaunteya
prakṛtiṁ yānti māmikām
kalpa-kṣaye punas tāni
kalpādau visṛjāmy aham

Ó
filho de Kuntī, no fim do milênio, toda manifestação material entra em Minha
natureza, e no começo de outro milênio, através de Minha potência, Eu crio outra
vez.
O son of Kuntī, at the end of the
millennium every material manifestation enters into My nature, and at the
beginning of another millennium, by My potency I again create.
Verso 8
prakṛtiṁ svām avaṣṭabhya
visṛjāmi punaḥ punaḥ
bhūta-grāmam imaṁ kṛtsnam
avaśaṁ prakṛter vaśāt
Tradução
Toda
a ordem cósmica está sujeita a Mim. Por Minha vontade, ela se manifesta
repetidamente, e por Minha vontade, ela é aniquilada no fim.
The whole cosmic order is under Me.
By My will it is manifested again and again, and by My will it is annihilated
at the end.
Verso 9
na ca māṁ tāni karmāṇi
nibadhnanti dhanañ-jaya
udāsīna-vad āsīnam
asaktaṁ teṣu karmasu

Ó
Dhanañjaya, todo este trabalho não Me compromete. Eu sou sempre desapegado,
pois permaneço neutro.
O Dhanañjaya, all this work cannot
bind Me. I am ever detached, seated as though neutral.
Verso 10
mayādhyakṣeṇa prakṛtiḥ
sūyate sa-carācaram
hetunānena kaunteya
jagad viparivartate
Tradução
Esta
natureza material trabalha sob Minha direção, ó filho de Kuntī, e produz todos os
seres móveis e imóveis. Por sua ordem, esta manifestação é criada e aniquilada
repetidamente.
This material nature is working
under My direction, O son of Kuntī, and it is producing all moving and unmoving
beings. By its rule this manifestation is created and annihilated again and
again.
Verso 11
avajānanti māṁ mūḍhā
mānuṣīṁ tanum āśritam
paraṁ bhāvam ajānanto
mama bhūta-maheśvaram
Tradução
Os
tolos Me menosprezam quando Eu descendo em forma humana. Eles não conhecem
Minha natureza transcendental e Meu domínio supremo sobre tudo que existe.
Fools deride Me when I descend in
the human form. They do not know My transcendental nature and My supreme
dominion over all that be.
Verso 12
moghāśā mogha-karmāṇo
mogha-jñānā vicetasaḥ
rākṣasīm āsurīṁ caiva
prakṛtiṁ mohinīṁ śritāḥ

Aqueles
que estão assim iludidos ficam atraídos pelas opiniões demoníacas e ateístas.
Nessa condição iludida, suas esperanças de liberação, suas atividades fruitivas
e sua cultura de conhecimento são todas frustradas.
Those who are thus bewildered are
attracted by demonic and atheistic views. In that deluded condition, their
hopes for liberation, their fruitive activities, and their culture of knowledge
are all defeated.
Verso 13
mahātmānas tu māṁ
pārtha
daivīṁ prakṛtim āśritāḥ
bhajanty ananya-manaso
jñātvā bhūtādim avyayam

Ó
filho de Pṛthā, aqueles que não estão iludidos, as grandes almas, estão sob a
proteção da natureza divina. Eles estão dedicados plenamente ao serviço
devocional porque Me conhecem como a Suprema Personalidade de Deus, original e
inesgotável.
O son of Pṛthā, those who are not
deluded, the great souls, are under the protection of the divine nature. They
are fully engaged in devotional service because they know Me as the Supreme
Personality of Godhead, original and inexhaustible.
Verso 14
satataṁ kīrtayanto māṁ
yatantaś ca dṛḍha-vratāḥ
namasyantaś ca māṁ
bhaktyā
nitya-yuktā upāsate
Tradução
Sempre
a cantar Minhas glórias, empenhados com grande determinação, por se prostrarem perante
Mim, essas grandes almas Me adoram perpetuamente com devoção.
Always chanting My glories,
endeavoring with great determination, bowing down before Me, these great souls
perpetually worship Me with devotion.
Verso 15
jñāna-yajñena cāpy anye
yajanto mām upāsate
ekatvena pṛthaktvena
bahudhā viśvato-mukham

Outros,
que se dedicam ao cultivo do conhecimento, adoram o Supremo Senhor como o único
sem igual, diverso em muitos e na forma universal.
Others, who are engaged in the cultivation
of knowledge, worship the Supreme Lord as the one without a second, diverse in
many, and in the universal form.
Verso 16
ahaṁ kratur ahaṁ yajñaḥ
svadhāham aham auṣadham
mantro ’ham aham evājyam
aham agnir ahaṁ hutam

Mas
Eu que sou o ritual, Eu sou o sacrifício, a oferenda aos ancestrais, a erva
medicinal, o canto transcendental. Eu sou a manteiga e o fogo e a oferenda.
But it is I who am the ritual, I
the sacrifice, the offering to the ancestors, the healing herb, the transcendental
chant. I am the butter and the fire and the offering.
Verso 17
pitāham asya jagato
mātā dhātā pitāmahaḥ
vedyaṁ pavitram oṁ-kāra
ṛk sāma yajur eva ca
Tradução
Eu
sou o pai deste universo, a mãe, o suporte e o patriarca. Eu sou o objeto do
conhecimento, o purificador e a sílaba om.
Eu também sou o Ṛk, o Sāma e o Yajur [Vedas].
I am the father of this universe,
the mother, the support, and the grandsire. I am the object of knowledge, the
purifier and the syllable om. I am also the Ṛk, the Sāma,
and the Yajur [Vedas].
Verso 18
gatir bhartā prabhuḥ
sākṣī
nivāsaḥ śaraṇaṁ suhṛt
prabhavaḥ pralayaḥ
sthānaṁ
nidhānaṁ bījam avyayam
Tradução
Eu
sou a meta, o sustentador, o mestre, a testemunha, a morada, o refúgio e o
amigo mais querido. Eu sou a criação e a aniquilação, a base de tudo, o local
de repouso e a semente eterna.
I am the goal, the sustainer, the
master, the witness, the abode, the refuge and the most dear friend. I am the
creation and the annihilation, the basis of everything, the resting place and
the eternal seed.
Verso 19
tapāmy aham ahaṁ varṣaṁ
nigṛhṇāmy utsṛjāmi ca
amṛtaṁ caiva mṛtyuś ca
sad asac cāham arjuna
Tradução
Ó
Arjuna, Eu controlo o calor, a chuva e a seca. Eu sou a imortalidade, e Eu sou também
a morte personificada. Tanto a existência quanto a inexistência estão em Mim.

Arjuna, I control heat, the rain and the drought. I am immortality, and I am also death personified.
Both being and nonbeing are in Me.
Verso 20
trai-vidyā māṁ soma-pāḥ
pūta-pāpā
yajñair iṣṭvā svar-gatiṁ
prārthayante
te puṇyam āsādya
surendra-lokam
aśnanti divyān divi deva-bhogān
Tradução
Aqueles
que estudam os Vedas e bebem o suco soma, à procura dos planetas
celestiais, Me adoram indiretamente. Eles nascem no planeta de Indra, onde
desfrutam os prazeres divinos.
Those who study the Vedas and drink
the soma juice, seeking the heavenly planets, worship Me indirectly. They take
birth on the planet of Indra, where they enjoy godly delights.
Verso 21
te taṁ bhuktvā
svarga-lokaṁ viśālaṁ
kṣīṇe puṇye martya-lokaṁ
viśanti
evaṁ trayī-dharmam
anuprapannā
gatāgataṁ kāma-kāmā
labhante
Tradução
Depois
que desfrutam o prazer sensual celestial dessa forma, retornam novamente a este
planeta mortal. Assim, por meio dos princípios védicos, alcançam apenas
felicidade fugaz.
When they have thus enjoyed
heavenly sense pleasure, they return to this mortal planet again. Thus, through
the Vedic principles, they achieve only flickering happiness.
Verso 22
ananyāś cintayanto māṁ
ye janāḥ paryupāsate
teṣāṁ nityābhiyuktānāṁ
yoga-kṣemaṁ vahāmy aham
Tradução
Mas
aqueles que Me adoram com devoção e meditam em Minha forma transcendental – a
eles Eu dou o que necessitam e preservo o que têm.
But those who worship Me with
devotion, meditating on My transcendental form — to them I carry what they lack
and preserve what they have.
Verso 23
ye ’py
anya-devatā-bhaktā
yajante śraddhayānvitāḥ
te ’pi mām eva kaunteya
yajanty avidhi-pūrvakam

Qualquer
coisa que um homem possa sacrificar a outros deuses, ó filho de Kuntī, é na
realidade destinada a Mim unicamente, mas é oferecida sem o verdadeiro
entendimento.
Whatever a man may sacrifice to
other gods, O son of Kuntī, is really meant for Me alone, but it is offered
without true understanding.
Verso 24
ahaṁ hi sarva-yajñānāṁ
bhoktā ca prabhur eva
ca
na tu mām abhijānanti
tattvenātaś cyavanti te
Tradução
Eu
sou o único desfrutador e o único objeto do sacrifício. Aqueles que não
reconhecem Minha natureza transcendental verdadeira caem.
I am the only enjoyer and the only
object of sacrifice. Those who do not recognize My true transcendental nature
fall down.
Verso 25
yānti deva-vratā devān
pitṝn yānti pitṛ-vratāḥ
bhūtāni yānti bhūtejyā
yānti mad-yājino ’pi
mām

Aqueles
que adoram os semideuses nascerão entre os semideuses; aqueles que adoram
fantasmas e espíritos nascerão entre tais seres; aqueles que adoram os
ancestrais irão ter com os ancestrais; e aqueles que Me adoram, viverão Comigo.
Those who worship the demigods will
take birth among the demigods; those who worship ghosts and spirits will take
birth among such beings; those who worship ancestors go to the ancestors; and
those who worship Me will live with Me.
Verso 26
patraṁ puṣpaṁ phalaṁ
toyaṁ
yo me bhaktyā
prayacchati
tad ahaṁ bhakty-upahṛtam
aśnāmi prayatātmanaḥ

Se
uma pessoa Me oferecer com amor e devoção uma folha, uma flor, fruta ou água,

If one offers Me with love and
devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit or water, I will accept it.
Verso 27
yat karoṣi yad aśnāsi
yaj juhoṣi dadāsi yat
yat tapasyasi kaunteya
tat kuruṣva mad-arpaṇam

Ó
filho de Kuntī, tudo que você fizer, tudo que você comer, tudo que você oferecer
ou der aos outros, bem como quaisquer austeridades que possa executar – tudo
deve ser feito como uma oferenda a Mim.
O son of Kuntī, all that you do,
all that you eat, all that you offer and give away, as well as all austerities
that you may perform, should be done as an offering unto Me.
Verso 28
śubhāśubha-phalair evaṁ
mokṣyase
karma-bandhanaiḥ
sannyāsa-yoga-yuktātmā
vimukto mām upaiṣyasi

Dessa
forma, você ficará livre de todas as reações das ações boas ous más, e com esse
princípio de renúncia, você será liberado e virá a Mim.
In this way you will be freed from
all reactions to good and evil deeds, and by this principle of renunciation you
will be liberated and come to Me.
Verso 29
samo ’haṁ sarva-bhūteṣu
na me dveṣyo ’sti na priyaḥ
ye bhajanti tu māṁ bhaktyā
mayi te teṣu cāpy aham
Tradução
Eu
não invejo ninguém, nem sou parcial com ninguém. Sou igual com todos. Mas quem
quer que preste serviço a Mim com devoção é um amigo, está em Mim e Eu também
sou um amigo dele.
I envy no one, nor am I partial to
anyone. I am equal to all. But whoever renders service unto Me in devotion is a
friend, is in Me, and I am also a friend to him.
Verso 30
api cet su-durācāro
bhajate mām ananya-bhāk
sādhur eva sa mantavyaḥ
samyag vyavasito hi saḥ

Mesmo
se cometer as ações mais abomináveis, se ele estiver dedicado ao serviço
devocional, deve ser considerado santo porque está devidamente situado.
Even if one commits the most abominable
actions, if he is engaged in devotional service, he is to be considered saintly
because he is properly situated.
Verso 31
kṣipraṁ bhavati
dharmātmā
śaśvac-chāntiṁ
nigacchati
kaunteya pratijānīhi
na me bhaktaḥ praṇaśyati

Ele
rapidamente se torna virtuoso e obtém a paz duradoura. Ó filho de Kuntī,
declare com audácia que Meu devoto nunca se arruína.
He quickly becomes righteous and
attains lasting peace. O son of Kuntī, declare it boldly that My devotee never
perishes.
Verso 32
māṁ hi pārtha
vyapāśritya
ye ’pi syuḥ pāpa-yonayaḥ
striyo vaiśyās tathā
śūdrās
te ’pi yānti parāṁ
gatim
Tradução
Ó
filho de Pṛthā, aqueles que se abrigam em Mim, mesmo se forem de nascimento
inferior – mulheres, vaiśyas [comerciantes], bem como śūdras [operários]
– podem se aproximar do destino supremo.
O son of Pṛthā, those who take
shelter in Me, though they be of lower birth — women, vaiśyas
[merchants], as well as śūdras [workers] — can approach the supreme
destination.
Verso 33
kiṁ punar brāhmaṇāḥ puṇyā
bhaktā rājarṣayas tathā
anityam asukhaṁ lokam
imaṁ prāpya bhajasva
mām

Quão
maiores então são os brahmanas, os
virtuosos, os devotos e os reis santos que neste miserável mundo temporário se
dedicam em serviço amoroso a Mim.
How much greater then are the
brāhmaṇas, the righteous, the devotees and saintly kings who in this temporary
miserable world engage in loving service unto Me.
Verso 34
man-manā bhava
mad-bhakto
mad-yājī māṁ namaskuru
mām evaiṣyasi
yuktvaivam
ātmānaṁ mat-parāyaṇaḥ

Dedique
tua mente a sempre pensar em Mim [e converta-se em Meu devoto]; ofereça-Me reverências
e Me adore. Completamente absorto
em Mim, certamente você virá a Mim.
Engage your mind always in thinking
of Me, offer obeisances and worship Me. Being completely absorbed in Me, surely
you will come to Me.
